Step-by-step guide on how to make a helicoide - by Art Kunda

HELICOID: The name is derived from a shape that mimics a spiral formation
String art: HELICOID
1. Outline the circle with nails using a 1cm spacing or less
2. Position the board upright such that it is not diagonal and locate a nail at 180° (to your left).
This can be done by estimation.
3. After making a knot on that nail, we now have our 1st starting point.
Take the string across to your right and locate a nail at 0° such that the string divides the circle in half. That is our 2nd starting point.
4. On both sides, we shall move clockwise.
Take the string to the 2nd nail on the left and back to the 2nd nail on the right. To the 3rd nail on the left and to the 3rd nail on the right.
5. Do this for about 5 nails (this number can change on your next helicoid but remains fixed for as long as you have started stringing already) and then skip one nail on your right. Here's how.
After the 5 nails on both sides, I believe you are now on your 6th nail on the left. Now, skip nail 6 on your right and go to nail 7, still on your right but do not skip any on your left.
6. Continue with step 4 and 5 to the end.
Voila!
NB: For a colored one like the one above, randomly interchange the colors whenever you please but keep the count as it is the one that brings out the shape.
Enjoy
